Overview. This 268-acre preserve protects one of the most spectacular dolomite and limestone gorges in the state. Registered as a National Natural Landmark in 1968, Clifton Gorge encompasses a 2-mile stretch of the Little Miami State and National Scenic River, just east of John Bryan State Park.

Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve, in Greene County, Ohio, is located three miles east of Yellow Springs, Ohio, and immediately southwest of Clifton, Ohio. [1] [2] The preserve constitutes 268 acres of gorges along two miles of the Little Miami River. History.
Clifton Gorge is a small but enjoyable park East of Dayton bordering the small hamlet of Clifton. This "Preserve" is small compared to State Parks but still contains about 4 miles of hiking trails that follow the gorge. The Preserve adjoins John Bryan State Park for additional hiking opportunities. Clifton Gorge has two parking areas.
