Complicity (or Retribution in the US market) is a 2000 film based on the 1993 novel Complicity by Iain Banks. [1] [2] The screenplay was written by Bryan Elsley, and directed by Gavin Millar. [3] Both had previously adapted Banks's The Crow Road into a TV serial. [4] The film marked the debut of Richard Madden.

Tension is derived from Chen-liang's increasing sense of disorientation, the risk of exposure and the question of what his boss will do should he discover the truth. He, too, is at risk of legal sanctions if he's discovered to be employing an illegal immigrant. Where does complicity begin and end?
Nov 17, 2013 · Too late. The pack of youth become judge, jury and executioner as they beat the boy to death in the kitchen and now everyone is pointing fingers at each other. The plot only thickens as they decide what to do next. “Complicity” is an entertaining thriller full of partying and bad decisions.
Complicity appears to have been overlooked by most theatres, distributors, award-givers and reviewers. A shame really, much worse British films have travelled abroad in recent years. Complicity is fraught, character-driven, quirky, kinky and pays off at the end. Well worth checking out.

I can only imagine that the writer felt it unique in it's simplicity. Nope. Moves slow. dialog is trite, reactions were over the top and exaggerated and the ending was not worth the wasted time waiting for it. If you want to sit around for an hour and a half watching nasty whiny teens get away with murder then by all means this is the movie for ...
