CONCLUSIONS: In our study, COPD was found to have a 30-day all-cause readmission rate of 19%. The main reasons for readmissions were COPD exacerbation, sepsis, acute respiratory failure, pneumonia, and heart failure. Readmissions were associated with increased inpatient mortality, longer hospital stay and cost compared to the index admission.
