Iredell County ( / ˈaɪɜːrdɛl / EYE-ur-del) [1] [2] is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 186,693. [3] . Its county seat is Statesville, and its largest community is Mooresville. The county was formed in 1788, subtracted from Rowan County.

Iredell County is in the central section of the state and is bounded by Rowan, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Lincoln, Catawba, Alexander, Wilkes, Yadkin, and Davie counties. The present land area is 574.13 square miles and the 2012 population was 162,708. Topography The county is dominated by ridges separated by creeks in the valleys.
The county's governing body is the Iredell County Board of Commissioners (the "Board"), which is responsible for formulating policy, directing a number of government services and appointing members of various boards and agencies to implement specific policies or to provide certain services.
