    Verify Operating Dates of County Campgrounds

    Over the years, we have found that Wisconsin County Park Campgrounds aren’t typically open until the weather is a bit warmer. We see campgrounds opening around May of each year and closing in October. Unlike some state parks open for winter camping, many county park campgrounds are closed during our Midwest winters.

    We’ve been to county campgrounds with beautiful and well-kept shower facilities and other rustic campgrounds. Rustic campgrounds are when pit toilets are the only option, and no electricity is available. Therefore, make sure to check which amenities are offered at your chosen campground.
