Two categories of torts affecting nursing practice are intentional torts and unintentional torts. Intentional torts are wrongs that the defendant knew (or should have known) would be caused by their actions. Examples of intentional torts include assault, battery, false imprisonment, slander, libel, and breach of privacy or client confidentiality.
Class C misdemeanors are sentenced to a fine not to exceed $500 or imprisonment not to exceed 30 days, or both. [ 5 ] Examples of misdemeanors include battery, possession of controlled substances, petty theft, disorderly conduct, and driving under the influence (DUI) charges.
