The Office of University Communications and Public Affairs provides stock photos to the media as well as to faculty and staff for internal and external communications, PowerPoint presentations, websites, and other materials generated by various departments and offices. The office maintains the CSUDH Photo Archive, which contains hundreds of downloadable images. All photos are university property and should be credited to CSU Dominguez Hills. If you need something other than the CSUDH photos in the archive, please email Creative Services Director Jeff Farsai.
University Photography provides the services of a photographer to university clients according to established departmental goals and priorities. 1. Photography requests must be made at least THREE WEEKS in advance. 1. Submit a request via email to theuniversity photographer. 1. Include this information in your request: 1.1. Name of the event or subject being photographed 1.2. Date and time 1.3. Where it's taking place 1.4. Purpose/why photos are needed 1.5. Any additional photo directions 1.6. Your contact information 1. The Office of University Communications and Public Affairs reserves the right to accept or prioritize projects in accordance with the criteria listed below, under "Priorities." 1. A specific photo date may not be possible due to scheduling conflicts.
Photographs used in university communications should be consistent with the university brand. When presented with well-written captions, the best photos are ones that encourage an action or communicate a message consistent with the university's mission and vision. Quality Standards 1. Photographs must display the university event, department, or program and the work of its students, faculty, and staff in an engaged, professional, and relevant manner. 1. When possible, photographs should be captured in a natural photojournalistic style as opposed to posed staging. 1. Photographs serving both print and web applications are the most desirable use of CSUDH resources. High-quality images are preferred, to allow for resizing and cropping for maximum visual impact. Cell phone images can be shared on our social media websites, but are not appropriate for CSUDH web pages. 1. All CSUDH faculty, staff, and students whose photos are taken by University Photography or who participate in campus, classroom, or lab photo shoots must complete a Photo Release Form. This is especially important if the photos will be published in print media or online. 1. Download the form here:Photo Release Form[PDF] 1. Exceptions to the Photo Release Form requirement are for general campus photos or photos taken at public events. This may include photos where people are not easily identifiable, crowd shots, or when there are reasonable expectations that attendees could appear in photos taken at a public event.
