  1. Alternator Terminal Identification Guide. The following information is presented as a guide when wiring and troubleshooting alternators. Terminal Definition Notes A BATTERY Comes from the word ‘Accumulator’ B BATTERY Main Battery Feed B+ BATTERY Main Battery Feed C CENTRE Neutral, ‘Half-Voltage’, centre point of a Y-connected stator

  2. B+ is the battery + connection ( ie the main output terminal) W is the connection for a tachometer. D+ is the warning light connection ( without which it will probably not function) D- is the battery negative connection. What is the D+ terminal on an alternator?

  3. Apr 9, 2011 · It is a Bosch alternator. Only two wires to alternator. The main wire and then a wire to the D+ terminal. needs 3-4 volts to that terminal to charge. Turn the key on and the voltage is there, start the tractor and there is no voltage to the D+. The light works with the key turned to on but the tractor not running. any ideas?

  4. The warning light supplies a bit of current to get the alternator started. Without it, there will be no charging. Since the lamp does not light when you ground the D+ terminal, this points to a burned out bulb in the cluster or wiring between cluster and alternator. A continuity test from cluster to D+ connector will help narrow it down. Paul

  5. Jan 17, 2023 · Alternator Diode Testing - B+ vs D+. I had an issue with the battery draining rapidly in my '98 M3, and I couldn't find an individual circuit that seemed to have a drain on it, so I fired up search and located various threads pointing to failed diodes causing rapid battery drain. I have measured the B+ terminal using my meter on the diode ...

  6. Jun 16, 2008 · The alternator needs to see power on the D+ terminal (the wire in the harness is blue) in the 2 pin connection in order to "excite" itself. This is super easy to test - just turn the key to "on" and measure at that terminal with it unplugged from the alternator. You should see battery voltage there.

  7. Jul 13, 2020 · The shared wire between the slip control module, anti-theft module and the Alternator D+ terminal goes to D100 Diagnostic connector pin 12. Which means I haven't found the direct +12v source for the D+ terminal unless like Demet says it's run through the bulb and/or unloader relay coil (resisted).
