From 1959 to 1964, the Fairlane was a locally assembled version of the American Ford Fairlane, which had taken its name from Henry Ford's estate, Fair Lane, near Dearborn, Michigan. The car was Ford Australia's top-of-the-range model until replaced by an Australian-assembled version of the full-sized American Ford Galaxie .

- 1955-1956 Ford Fairlane. The Fairlane replaced the Crestline as the premium full-sized Ford automobile in 1955. That first year there were six distinct Fairlane models available.
- 1957-1959 Ford Fairlane. Lower, longer, wider, and even sleeker – all of these attributes applied to the newly styled 1957 Fairlane. A two-door hardtop convertible, hydraulically controlled, sold well and also used most of the available trunk space when lowered for top down motoring, was introduced.
