Dalton-in-Furness is a town in the ceremonial county of Cumbria, England. It is in the parish of Dalton Town with Newton, in the Westmorland and Furness district. In 2011 it had a population of 7,827. It is 4 miles (6 km) north east of Barrow-in-Furness.
Dalton-in-Furness was once the leading town in the Furness Peninsula thanks to the establishment of the nearby Furness Abbey, which became one of the most powerful Cistercian Abbeys in England. Dalton Castle, a Pele Tower was built in the 14th Century to provide sanctuary for the monks of Furness Abbey from the Scottish Raiders.
