A native of Long Island, New York, Dan Deacon graduated from Babylon High School in 1999, where he was in a ska band called Channel 59. He then attended the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase, where he studied electro-acoustic and computer music composition under Joel Thorne and Dary John Mizelle.
