  4. The film depicts the small town life of Anson and Hamlin, Texas in the early 1980's. Anson is the town that banned dancing and some say "Footloose" was based on. That fact does not enter into the movie, but is a shading on the tone of the town. The characters are strong and the performance by Weist is unforgettable.
