The newspapers of his day made him better known as Dion O'Banion, although he never went by that first name.

In Chicago, Dean O'Banion sends Van Alden to visit Jake Guzik at the hospital to deliver flowers. He arrives, meeting Capone and Frank. Despite his reluctance, he is forced to accompany them to make Guzik’s collections.
