  1. English hard rock band Deep Purple have released 22 studio albums, 43 live albums and 55 singles. Formed in early 1968 by Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Rod Evans, Ritchie Blackmore, and Nick Simper, Deep Purple released their debut album, Shades of Deep Purple, in July of that year.
