Deidre’s identical twin sister Andrea Evans joined the soap as Samantha Evans, Marlena’s twin sister, a year later. Samantha was well-known for trying to steal Marlena’s identity and being Marlena’s envious sister.
The role was played by Hall’s real-life twin. Andrea Hall returned years later as Hattie Adams, a waitress turned con-woman that Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) found and transformed with surgery into Marlena’s double. Eventually Deidre Hall took over the role-playing double duty.</p>
