DeWitt Bodeen (July 25, 1908 — March 12, 1988) was an American film screenwriter and television writer best known for writing Cat People (1942). Biography. Born Homer DeWitt Bodeen on July 25, 1908, in Fresno, California, [1] he began his career as an actor and wrote more than 20 plays before entering the film business.
Written by DeWitt Bodeen and Charles O'Neal, and produced by Val Lewton for RKO Radio Pictures, the film focuses on a young woman who stumbles on an underground cult of devil worshippers in Greenwich Village, New York City, while searching for her missing sister. It marks Robson's directorial debut, and was Hunter's first onscreen role.
