MoreCrater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro is the only diamond facility in the world open to the public. You have an approximate 40 acre field where you can go and literally strike diamonds! The story of the park dates back to about a 100 million years ago, when volcanic activity pushed these white sparkling lumps from the depths of the earth’s crust to the top. Then, in 1906, John Huddleston, a farmer who owned this piece of land found the diamonds while working on his field. And now, years after that, the field is open for the public to come and excavate diamonds. The exciting park brings up beautiful colorful glittering stones although most people seem to find either white, brown or yellow diamonds. But that’s not the only thing you can find here. Since the city’s ground and earth is blessed with a number of precious things like different types of rock and minerals, so it’s a field day for everyone including geologists. At the park, you can pick a spot and keep digging through the mud and sand to find these precious rocks. The park will provide you with all the information you need about diamonds, so if you don’t know much about how diamonds form and how you should look for them, you don’t have to worry.
