Dianna Rigg is perhaps most famous for her roles as Bond girl Teresa di Vincenzo in the 1969 George Lazenby James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service and as Mrs Emma Peel in the cult 1960s TV series The Avengers from 19651968. Rigg was also cast as the very wealthy fashion designer, Lady Holiday in the 1981 movie, The Great Muppet Caper.
In Game of Thrones she plays the role of Olenna Tyrell. She was announced in the role on July 17, 2012. She first appears in season three and continued to appear in seasons four, five, six, and seven. Rigg is the first Game of Thrones cast member to be a knight in real life, having been made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for services to the arts in 1994.
For her work on the third season, Rigg (who was credited as a guest star in all of her appearances) was nominated for the 2013 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. It was Rigg's sixth nomination for an acting Emmy, though ultimately she did not win. Rigg received another nomination in the same category for the fifth season in 2015.
