Nov 26, 2012 · It was that great Rough Rider, President Theodore Roosevelt, who signed the Act of Congress of June 30, 1906. This Act effectively allowed the then-relative backwater burgh of Los Angeles to bring water south from approximately 250 miles away, up in the Sierras.
Costing some $2.5 million to construct, the building took nearly a year to complete. When it did finally debut, the hotel showcased some of the finest Spanish Colonial Revival-style architecture in the entire city. The group decided to name their new hotel “The Hollywood Roosevelt,” in honor of former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt.
