   The question is simply if liking the music makes you goth. I get it that it's the main thing about goth, but music alone doesn't make a subculture. There's plenty of things over which goths call other goths posers, and I don't think anyone will ever agree on a single, clear definition.

   • The goths I spoke to seem to be absolutely convinced that if you really like the music, you instantly become enveloped by the lyrics, melody and atmosphere and become a true, authentic goth, which is absolutely unrealistic. People experience everything, especially music, differently.

   • I get it that goths don't like how the visual style has become more popular than the music, so much so that the general public instantly associates goth with a visual thing and rarely music, but that doesn't change anything as to how labeling this style of dress "goth" would be accurate.

   I haven't come across many and I'd love to know if anyone else knows of any. I've been watching the Netflix show Hip Hop Evolution and was thinking about how great it would be if that existed for goth music. I'm an experimental documentary filmmaker so at some point I'll get around to making my own, but it wont be for a while.
