The Belle Isle Park grounds are open year-round 5 am -10 pm. Facility hours are as follows. Please check with the respective facilities for possible changes: Belle Isle Aquarium, Friday - Sunday, 10am - 4pm. Belle Isle Nature Center, Open daily, 10am - 5pm. Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, Closed until further notice.
Belle Isle State Park Overview. Belle Isle State Park campground is located next to the Rappahannock River and has 32 large campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. Each site has electric hookups, a table, fire ring, grate and lantern post. The campground has restroom with flush toilets, hot showers ($), a laundry facility and a store.

Hiking at Belle Isle State Park
Belle Isle offers almost 10 miles of hiking trails and multi-use trails that allow hiking, biking and horse riding. You might enjoy Mud Creek trail that offers time in the woods and some nice creek views. Or, you might prefer to try the Mulberry Creek Boardwalk which is a nice, even boardwalk-style trail. Belle Isle Boat and Kayak Launches
There is a nice kayak and canoe launch area at Belle Isle. Mulberry Creek provides a sheltered area to explore. One nice feature of the kayak dock is an accessible launch that may enable people with a range of physical abilities to get on the water. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent. Parking is nearby. Belle Isle Beach and Picnic Area
There is a large picnic area at Belle Isle with a picnic shelter, playground and bathrooms. Adjacent to the picnic area is a small beach. Groups of up to ten can access the beach. Note that there is an approximately two foot step down to the beach area.
Belle Isle offers one campground loop with 30 back-in and pull-through campsites. Sites are level gravel sites with water & electric hookups. If you enjoy visiting wineries, there are several within an hour’s drive of Belle Isle. The closest is Good Luck Cellarsin Kilmarnock, VA. The owners of Good Luck Cellars have transformed an old gravel mine into a 25 acre winery. While they normally offer tastings, during our visit the tasting room was closed. Jun 7, 2023 · This array of habitats allows for many recreational opportunities, including hiking, biking, horseback-riding, camping and more. The diverse habitats also make Belle Isle a premium park for wildlife viewing and birdwatching, with bald eagles, herons and osprey frequently observed.
Day 1. Pull up and get settled at Belle Isle State park. There are a number of ways you can stay. The campground has an RV park, full service and primitive camping, and two houses for rent. The Bel Air Houses were built in 1942.
