That Spike is Buffy's soulmate is already heavily implied in "Intervention" (B 5.18). When Buffy's resurrected in BtVS S6, she most wants to see Spike and Giles and seemingly in that order. BtVS S7 and after effectively confirm that Spike is Buffy's literal soulmate if she has one.
