History: In 1949, the Federal Government granted Goleta Beach Park to Santa Barbara County. In 1953, the County granted the Park to the State of California. The State granted it back to the County in 1970.
The Goleta Pier boat launch is available for public use on weekends and holidays. The park's resident ranger must be in attendance to facilitate the launch. To get to Goleta Beach County Park, visitors should get on Highway 217 then take the exit to Sandspit Road. There are also bike paths that lead from downtown to the park, and a city bus stops at the park, too.
There is a boat launch here for launching boats right onto the bay. Kayakers and stand-up paddleboarders put in here as well and there are rentals on site. Atascadero Creek and Goleta Slough come together and flow to the ocean just east of the beach park.
