Douglas Rae (born 22 June 1947) is a Scottish film producer, television producer and executive, and a former children's television presenter. Rae presented the long-running Thames Television children's series Magpie , [1] [2] [3] taking over from Pete Brady in 1971 and remaining until 1977.
Douglas Rae is a student of the interface between business and government. He has served on the Yale faculty since 1967, chairing the political science department during the 1980s. He took public service leave in 1990 and 1991 to serve as chief administrative officer of New Haven during a crisis period.
Until 1990, Douglas W. Rae was a political scientist at Yale best known for writing the Ur-text on election studies. Called The Political Consequences of Electoral Laws, it established the terminology and guidelines for a nascent field of inquiry that grew rapidly after its publication. During the 1980s, he served as chair of political science.
