Series One is the first series of Downton Abbey. It premiered on ITV in the UK on 26 September 2010. It premiered on PBS in the United States on January 9, 2011, as part of the Masterpiece Classic anthology. It premiered on Prime in New Zealand on 10 May 2011. It premiered on Seven Network in Australia on 29 May 2011.
Series one begins at an English country estate called Downton Abbey in April of 1912, with the sinking of the Titanic. It focuses on the lives of the Crawley family and the servants on the estate until August of 1914, with the declaration of the First World War.
