The cast does a lot to anchor this film, which may otherwise be too repugnant for some audiences. Tory Kittles’ performance as Henry Johns in particular is terrific. He lends his character an unusual amount of introspection.

Apr 18, 2024 · The uncompromising work of director S. Craig Zahler is certainly divisive. We loved Bone Tomahawk, but we can’t stand Dragged Across Concrete. The pinnacle of his filmography to date, though, is the grindhouse actioner Brawl in Cell Block 99, starring Vince Vaughn in a role that couldn’t be further from the slacker comedies that made his name.
