At the end of the movie I kind of felt like I had been betrayed by the film for leaving me with no concrete resolution and this comment saved the film for me. It’s so obvious that the entire couch incident and the entire moving day changed how Luke and Kate viewed their feelings, chemistry and relationship.
The film concludes with an open ending with Swanberg stating "it's hard for me, knowing how uncertain the world is, to put a certain, definite ending on a movie. I feel like I'm hopefully hinting that there's a resolution without it being cemented down, or hammering you over the head with it."

Jul 18, 2023 · What happens with the drinking buddies at the end? Moving did not go so well. Luke injured his hand on a nail pointing out of the couch and fought with an impatient driver who did not want to wait for Kate and Luke to put the couch inside the truck.

It’s "Grown Ups 2" for the art house crowd. It’s a torturous, interminable slog. The improvised dialogue is dreadful. Spend your ticket money getting drunk instead.
