Oct 3, 2019 · During the fall of 1979, the moody, pulsing sound of “Driver’s Seat” by Sniff ‘n The Tears poured out of radios all over America. It eventually reached the number 15 spot on the Billboard Pop Singles chart and was among the earliest songs heralding the advent of New Wave.
Released 1978, "Driver's seat" was one of those early attempts of a hybrid between rock and disco. The mix is very bass-oriented, adding new keyboard effects, focusing on the low-pitched vocals in the chorus and even replacing the original lead guitar parts by a sort of synthesized guitar.
