Mar 6, 2000 · "Drowning Mona" boasts two of the most gifted comic talents working in movies today - Bette Midler and Danny DeVito. It strikes me as rather odd then, that one is given a surprisingly small amount of screen time, and the other seems to be sleepwalking through his role.

Summaries. When a woman drives a car into the river to her death, everyone in town becomes a suspect. Mona Dearly, a spiteful, loud-mouthed, unpopular woman, dies when the car she is driving plunges off a cliff and into a river near the small upstate New York town where she lives.
