DuPont Manual Training High School had been founded in October 1892. It was funded by a generous donation by Mr. A.V. duPont. The school was originally located at the corner of Brook and Oak Streets with an enrollment of 109 boys.

It was the second public high school in Louisville. Manual merged with its rival, Male High School, into a consolidated school from 1915 to 1919. Manual permanently merged with the Louisville Girls High School in 1950 and moved into their Gothic-style three-story building, built in 1934.

Jan 30, 2020 · In 1950, when the idea of coed schools were being popularized, the city merged the Louisville Girls School and the duPont Training School and named it duPont Manual High School. The two moved into the current home of the Crimsons: Halleck Hall.

duPont Manual High School was established in 1892 by Victor du Pont. It currently houses five magnet programs: High School University, Journalism and Communications, Math Science and Technology, Visual Arts, and the Youth Performing Arts School.
