When you buy a movie on Blu-ray or DVD, you may be eligible to redeem a digital copy of the movie. You don't need to add a payment method, as there is no charge for the digital copy.
Some products and features aren't available in all countries. Learn more about what's available in your country.
Important: Sign in to the Google Account you want to add the digital copy of your movie to. After you redeem the digital copy, you can’t transfer it to another account.
1. On an Android phone, open the Google Play Store app .
2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture.
3. Select the account you want to use.
You can only get the digital copy of the same movie that you bought in DVD or Blu-ray. The digital copy will also match the quality of your DVD or Blu-ray copy, so if you bought a DVD in SD quality, your digital copy will also be in SD.
Important: You can only redeem your promotional code within the country that you bought your DVD or Blu-ray. If you’re traveling and you bought a DVD or Blu-ray with a digital copy, make sure to redeem the digital copy before you leave that country.
Check the DVD or Blu-ray movie for instructions to redeem your digital copy. If you got a promotional code, follow the steps below:
1. Depending on where you got your movie, open their redemption site. Check redemption sites for different partners.
2. On the website, enter the promotional code that you got with your DVD or Blu-ray.
3. At the bottom you’ll see Result: Google Play Code xxxxxx.
1. Open the Google Play app .
2. At the top right, tap the profile icon.
3. Tap Payments & subscriptions Redeem gift code.
4. Enter the code.
5. Tap Redeem.
Tip: You can only redeem a promotional code once.
After your movie has been added to your Google Play library, there are several ways you can watch it. Learn where you can watch your movies and shows.
