Ingham County is included in the Lansing– East Lansing, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is considered to be a part of Mid Michigan . History. Ingham County was established by an act of the Michigan Territorial Legislature on October 29, 1829, from portions of Shiawassee County, Washtenaw County and unorganized territory.
East Lansing's first houses, known as Faculty Row, were built on the college campus in the 1850s, and thereafter the City's history and growth paralleled that of Michigan State University (MSU). In those early days the village primarily served the needs of teacher and student.
