Eklektika. Az eklektika különféle korok, stílusok, irányzatok jegyeit vegyesen alkalmazó, önálló elemeket ritkán tartalmazó, egyediségét a válogatásban kiélő irányzat. A kifejezés a görög eklégo (=válogatni, kiválogatni) tövű ἐκλεκτικός (eklektikosz) szóból ered, melynek jelentése: a legjobb kiválasztása.
