“The Gathering,” which takes place over the Christmas holidays, is the story of a family brought back together when its patriarch learns he has only a limited time to live. Although the movie was set in New England, much of it was actually filmed on location in Hudson and Chagrin Falls.

In a nutshell, Adam Thornton (Ed Asner), estranged from his wife Kate (Maureen Stapleton) and their 4 children, finds just before Christmas that he is about to die from an incurable illness, and wants to clear up loose ends while he can.
Oct 25, 2011 · Filmed in Chagrin Falls and Hudson, in northeast Ohio, where I remain a native, the film is set in a bleak seasonal weather. The Chagrin "falls" scene is virtually unchanged since filming. The cast is stellar. Asner and Stapleton are a convincing separated older couple.
