  4. Nov 22, 2023 · Saxon have always been a bit formulaic but kept the songwriting energetic and fresh enough to keep it interesting. Carpe Diem was where it was really showing its limits. that one felt especially "modern Saxon by numbers". these past two tracks have been pretty solid. they feel a bit more inspired again.

Swaggering boogie rock was a fair portion of the early Saxon sound, which can be fairly connected to a band like AC/DC. I'm a big fan of certain Saxon records.
