Founded in May of 1970, Eugene's Saturday Market is Oregon's original Saturday Market, and the oldest weekly open-air crafts festival in the United States. Wander among the 200 booths filled with fine handcrafts, always sold by the artisans themselves.
- 126 E. 8th Avenue 8th and Oak Avenues, Eugene, 97401, Oregon
The Saturday Market is subject to unannounced inspections by the Eugene Fire Marshal. Booth weights are required for pop-up style booths and umbrellas, and are strongly suggested for wood or metal pole frame booths.
Introduction. Every Saturday, rain or shine, between April and Thanksgiving, approximately 150 vendors [200-250 in 2015] display their handmade or home-grown products in a park in downtown Eugene, Oregon, The sellers arrive early in the morning and set up their own individual booths.
Since it’s beginning, the Saturday Market has become an institution in Eugene. The market was founded on a set of principles that were established when the market was first started in 1970; the two basic principles required are that the market be first and foremost non-profit, and that everything sold at the market is made, grown or gathered by the person selling it (or by a family member or partner).
