Vlad III was born sometime between 1428 and 1431, presumably after his father, Vlad II settled in Transylvania. According to most historians, his mother was either a daughter (Princess Cneajna of Moldavia) or a kinswoman (Eupraxia of Moldavia) of Alexander I of Moldavia and the first wife of his father.
