Background. EuropaCorp is a French movie studio founded by Luc Besson in 1992 as "Leeloo Productions". It was renamed to its current name in 2000 after Besson's old colleague, Pierre-Ange Le Pogam, joined the studio. The two separated in 2011 over creative differences.
In recent years, EuropaCorp has refocused on its core business of feature film production. Since its creation, EuropaCorp has produced or co-produced more than 120 films and has produced 10 of France's top 20 international box office hits and 22 of the 70 French productions with the highest international box office (source: Le Film Français).
