The Eutaw Springs Battleground Park was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. The American Battlefield Trust and its partners have acquired and preserved more than 18 acres (0.073 km 2 ) of the battlefield.

Eutaw Springs Battlefield Park. Sitting on the banks of Lake Marion in Eutawville is the site of the last Revolutionary War battle to take place in South Carolina. The battle occurred on September 8, 1781 when General Nathaniel Greene’s American troops attacked a British camp at the limestone springs on Eutaw Creek.
May 30, 2023 · Overview. Eutaw Springs Battleground Park, near today’s Eutawville in Orangeburg County, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. The site is some fifty miles northwest of Charleston, which at the time of the battle was occupied by British troops for well over a year.
The September 1781 Battle of Eutaw Springs was the last major battle in South Carolina. In a hotly contested battle lasting five hours, the Patriots and British both suffered heavy casualties. Patriot Major General Nathanael Greene lost 692 men which included 251 killed, 367 wounded, and 74 missing (including 17 officers killed and 43 wounded).
The tree shaded battleground park at the edge of Lake Marion includes a historic marker that tells the story and marks the site of the battle. On the grounds is the tomb of British Commander Major John Majoribanks, noted for outstanding leadership during the battle.
