The Făgăraș Mountains (Romanian: Munții Făgărașului [ˈ m u n ts ij f ə ɡ ə ˈ r a ʃ u l uj]; Hungarian: Fogarasi-havasok) are the highest mountains of the Southern Carpathians, in Romania.
The city is located at the foothills of the Făgăraș Mountains, on their northern side. It is traversed by the DN1 road, 66 km (41 mi) west of Brașov and 76 km (47 mi) east of Sibiu.
