     Whether the user's computer and the server is in the same Intranet Zone?

     If they are in the same zone, you could try to select the "Automatic logon with current user name and password" option (Internet options -> security -> local intranet -> customize ).

     If still not working, you could try to add the IP address to the "Local Intranet Sites" in security in IE.

     If the user's computer and the server are not in the same zone, you should enable the "Automatic logon with current user name and password" in the Internet Zone.

     When using the Windows Integrated authentication, the Internet Explorer might automatically authenticate a user's logon and password and maintain security. You could check the conditions for Internet Explorer to automatically authenticate a user's logon and password and maintain security:

     • Windows Integrated authentication, also known as Windows NTChallenge/Response, must be enabled in the Web site properties inIIS.      • The user requesting the Web page must have appropriate file system (NTFS)permissions to the Web page as well as all of the objects referencedin the Web page.      When using the Basic (clear text) authentication or Digest authentication. Internet Explorer does not pass your user name and password automatically when you are using Basic (clear text) authentication or Digest authentication. Therefore, you are always prompted for credentials when you are using these authentication methods.

     I had this problem and after many attempts, it was solved only as explained here:

     "http://terminalapp.net/submitting-a-form-with-target-set-to-a-script-generated-iframe-on-ie/"

     basically, iframe needs to be created this way:

     iframe = document.createElement('<iframe name="fileUploaderEmptyHole">');-

     I also found out frame names for current window are stored in window.frames. In IE11, the property .name is empty for all iframes in windows.frames :O

     I manually fixed like:

     for(i=0;i<window.frames.length;i++) window.frames[i].name = window.frames[i].frameElement.name;

     Then, you can get to frames using target name.

     I've tried the code you have listed on Windows 10, v2004, using a redirect link from a Google Ad. I've also tried just manually changing the page on the tab. In both instances, when the $ie.Quit() runs, it closes the tab that had been opened. I ran the code with the link below:

     I cannot reproduce the error, so my current theory is that this is not merely redirection (wherein, one page sends you to a different page within the same tab). I suspect that whatever link you are traveling to opens a new tab and closes your existing tab as part of its process (close window, open window). As such, I would recommend using the function provided by Andy Schneider in this answer to explicitly call the window that needs to be closed:
