Pittsford, Vermontat Wikipedia On Oct. 12, 1761, New Hampshire Gov. Benning Wentworth granted a charter to a new town in the New Hampshire Grants to be known as Pitt's Ford, later changed to Pittsford. The first settlers arrived in 1769 and by 1775, about 200 people lived in the town.
