The Clinton County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 8:39 p.m. Wednesday in the 7000 block of State Road 28 in Frankfort. For unknown reasons, Angel Kindle, 41, Frankfort, went into a construction zone of the highway.

Underwood joined the Frankfort Police Department in 1960 and served as chief from 1980 to 1984. Upon retirement from FPD in 1986, he was elected sheriff two-times serving from 1987 through 1994.
