Frederick I of Ansbach and Bayreuth (also known as Frederick V; German: Friedrich V. von Brandenburg-Ansbach-Kulmbach or Friedrich der Ältere; 8 May 1460 – 4 April 1536) was born at Ansbach as the eldest son of Albert III, Margrave of Brandenburg by his second wife Anna, daughter of Frederick II, Elector of Saxony.
He married Sophia Jagiellonka von Polen on 14 February 1479, in Frankfurt an der Oder, Brandenburg, Germany. They were the parents of at least 10 sons and 7 daughters. He died on 4 April 1536, in his hometown, at the age of 75, and was buried in Bavaria, Germany. More.
