Oct 25, 2023 · Part of the Gantry Plaza State Park and the walkway along the East River in Long Island City Queens, the playground is listed as the Rainbow Playground -- not to be confused with a NYC Parks playground by the same name in Brooklyn or two others in Queens.
The park offers picnic tables, a playground, playing fields, and a waterfront promenade facing the headquarters of the United Nations and the Midtown Manhattan skyline. Fishing and crabbing is permitted at pier #4, subject to New York State Department of Environmental Conservation regulations.
I love this state park and have been coming here for years, every summer. With beautiful views of Midtown Manhattan and the heart of the history of LIC behind it, a walk along the waterfront is wonderful during the summer months.
