  1. Genghis Cohn is a (very) mildly entertaining British movie about a German police commissioner in the late 1950's who is haunted by the ghost of a Jewish comedian that he killed 15 years earlier while serving under Hitler in the SS. The ghost comes back and wants his killer to live as a Jew to atone for the murders he committed.

The ghost of Cohn, who was killed by the police officer, undermines his sex life but, strangely, held to solve the murders. Some pathos and a strong anti-racist theme. Want to see it again - but ...

I have been following this and other cherished movies for when they are released on DVD. I found the movie absolutely excellent, apart from a few minor technical flaws such as the 2nd SS officer apparently firing his Schmeiser MP40 up in the air; a fight sequence between some Brown-Shirt (S.A.) thugs and Cohn also not being very believable.

Twilight Time's Blu-ray of Genghis Khan, filmed in Panavision and blown-up to 70mm in some European markets, good great, razor sharp most of the time with good color that shows the Yugoslavian locations to best advantage. (Fans of the Karl May Westerns filmed there will instantly recognize some of these.)

The story takes place in the 1950s or 1960s and is surprisingly lighthearted in stead of darkly vengeful. Really an unusual, but very impressive, movie!
