Gian Galeazzo Sforza, the third member of the Sforza family to have the title Duke of Milan, was born on this day in 1469 in Abbiategrasso, a town in the Po Valley about 22km (14 miles) north of Milan. He was the sixth Duke of Milan in all, the title having previously been the property of the Visconti family.
