If the Giant Clam is hostile, the spawn rate of Clams is drastically increased via the Clamity debuff, which causes them to become instantly aggressive as well. The Giant Clam also occasionally spawns groups of Clams while hostile. Once the world enters Hardmode, Clams receive a boost to their stats.
