Because they are a famous couple, starring in a movie romance, we expect something conventional and predictable and that is not what we get from "Gigli." The movie tries to do something different, thoughtful, and a little daring with their relationship, and although it doesn't quite work, maybe the movie is worth seeing for some scenes that are really very good.

Gigli was one of the worst reviewed films of 2003. So I began to wonder why this film in particular ended up on everyone's poop list even though there were plenty of worse films people were throwing good money at (Boat Trip, Bad Boys II, Masked and Anonymous). The answer became pretty obvious.

I don't know why "Your name is Bob" made me laugh, but it did … pity none of the other jokes in this lame excuse for a movie One short, begrudging, instantaneously regretted laugh a tenth of the way or so into the picture. That's the full extent of the entertainment value I got from 'Gigli'.

  10. Ebert and Roeper's Worst 10 of 2003 | Home Theater Forum

    www.hometheaterforum.com/community/threads/ebert...

Gigli was not as bad as many tried to make it out to be. There were worse movies this year. After attempting to watch Just Married, I never made it through it. It's an out-of-the ordinary romantic comedy for teenagers. I'm a teenager myself, and what I saw of this movie was horrible. But back to Gigli. This movie is not the best movie ever made, and I was never going to make it out like that, but the movie tells a coherent story with some good laughs and a scene stealing cameo from Al Pacino.
