Apr 27, 2022 · Gilbert Marshal, 4th Earl of Pembroke (1194 - 27 June 1241) was the 3rd son of William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke (1146-1219) and Isabella de Clare (1172-1240), the daughter of Richard de Clare. Gilbert acceded to the title of Earl of Pembroke on 11 June 1234, on the death of his elder brother Richard who had died childless.
